Sunday, Bloody Mary, Sunday. I love that U2 song.

Greetings from Tonyaland. Today boys and girls, it’s bloody mary time.  This is a subject that is near and dear to my heart.  It is one of my favorite go to cocktails.  We always keep it made in the fridge and anyone who knows me, knows I LOVE daydrinkin’, what better cocktail to drink at 11a than a beautiful hand crafted bloody mary and a tiny beer back. Meow.

At home we keep it simple:

V8 low sodium, Lea & Perrins Worcestershire Sauce, kosher salt, fresh ground pepper, celery seed & horseradish.  If you can, it’s best to let it rest.  I like to make it the day before if I am having a get together.  Bloody mary mix is one of those things that I think is a sin not to whip up yourself.  I like to buy bamboo tiny toothpick skewers for garnish and make a cute little tray for everyone to garnish their own cocktail.  Of course, have lemons, limes, anything pickled, olives and a big leafy celery stalk.  A sight for sore eyes.

A sidecar notation about a sight for sore eyes.

Once I had a roommate that saw a skinny, crazy boy that we waited tables with running down the road in a weenie bikini and tennis shoes, she said, “he was a sight for sore eyes”, I said, “Amanda, that means he’s good-looking”, she replied, “you know what I mean.”
