Sloppy Joes

When I was a kid, I loved when my mom made sloppy joes, I was not a big fan of Manwich.  I liked the dried packets that you add tomato paste and water to ground beef.  My mom would slice raw onion and slivers of sharp cheddar cheese for toppings for our sloppy joes.  Now that sodium has become such the enemy in processed food, I made up a recipe for my own sloppy joes without all the bad stuff.  Simple recipe.

Brown ground turkey, add salt, pepper & chili powder to turkey meat.  Puree in the food processor, onion, celery, carrots and mushrooms.  All or one.  Pan saute ingredients with browned turkey meat, add more salt, pepper, garlic (fresh, garlic salt or powder) & chili powder, add a can of tomato paste and a little water.

Serve on toasted hamburger buns and top with cheese, raw jalapeno and onion.
